Helping Our Hometown Heroes
Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was founded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Firehouse Subs co-founders, Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen, traveled to Mississippi where they fed first responders as well as survivors. As they traveled back to Florida exhausted and exhilarated, they knew we could do more and the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was born. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is dedicated to impact the life-saving capabilities and the lives of local heroes and their communities.
Filling playgrounds, not prisons
Incorporated in 1972, Police Athletic League of Jacksonville (PAL) is one if the oldest citizen-building youth programs in the nation. It builds friendships between law enforcement officers and children within the community and is based on the conviction that young people - if reached early enough - can develop strong positive attitudes towards police officers in their journey through life toward the goal of maturity and good citizenship. PAL has embraced traditional American values where one generation responsibly shares its wisdom and helps kids learn to work together to be responsible for themselves, as well as set goals in their lives. Pal offers year-round and seasonal sports programs, after-school education programs, and summer camps.

Helping to solve youth problems
State of Florida Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues, Inc. (SFAPAL) was formed in 1983 by five local PAL chapters: Jacksonville, Kissimmee, Miami Beach, St. Petersburg and Tampa. By using athletic and education based programs during after school and weekend hours, police officers working with youth have decreased the amount of free time youth have available for negative activities. Today SFAPAL has 52 member cities and growing.
